Forwarding Your Domain Name to a Different Domain Name

Back

There are two types of domain name forwarding: URL Forwarding and Frame Forwarding.

URL Forwarding redirects your domain name to a different URL.  This forwarding process is transparent to the public, as the address of the website will change.  For example: yourwebsite.com could redirect to anotherwebsite.com.

To set up URL Forwarding, set your Hostname to @, Record Type to URL, and Address to the full URL for which your website should be redirected (for example: http://www.anotherwebsite.com/).

Frame Forwarding redirects your domain to a different URL, but gives the appearance that it's still your domain.  This process forwarding process is hidden from the public, as the address of the website will not change.  For example: yourwebsite.com could show the content of anotherwebsite.com, and the people visiting your site would still see yourwebsite.com in their browser address bar.

To set up Frame Forwarding, set your Hostname to @, Record Type to FRAME, and Address to the full URL for which your website should be redirected (for example: http://www.anotherwebsite.com/).
